Habibganj Police lodged a First Information Report, FIR against Congress Member of Legislative assembly PC Sharma and former corporator Guddu Chouhan in the Doctor Yogendra Shrivastava misbehaviour case.
Police have registered the FIR based on the resignation letter of Dr Shrivastava and a complaint letter filed by the hospital management according to a report published on Republic TV.
On Saturday, 10 April, Sharma and Chouhan, along with their supporters, misbehaved with the doctor over the death of one Takhat Singh Shakya (35).
A video of the incident went viral on the internet where the duo can be seen shouting at the frontline worker; Shrivastava resigned immediately after the incident saying that he is not doing his job to get abused and humiliated.
Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Prabhuram Choudhary assured Dr Shrivastava that action would be taken into the incident, following which the Dr withdrew his resignation.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had earlier tweeted on the incident, "It is very shameful that some people mistreated the doctors and hospital staff, thereby creating a ruckus at Bhopal's JP Hospital. No person has any right to mistreat our doctors. Due to today's incident, a senior doctor of JP Hospital was left extremely distressed and handed over his resignation. We are living in a civilized society. At this time, when there is a need to stand together, such a situation is neither in the public interest nor with this attitude COVID-19 can be tackled."
