Doubling down on the growth prospects of Karnataka for its booming e-commerce operations, Bengaluru-based Flipkart has strengthened its supply chain capacity in the state by opening three more facilities which would create over 14,000 new job opportunities, reports Economic Times.
The three fulfilment centres (warehouses) have come up in Kolar, Hubli and Anekal, and will serve sellers of large appliances, furniture, mobile phones, apparel and electronics. These will help in creating deeper capabilities to support thousands of sellers, MSMEs, small farmers from the state to cater to the growing customer demand.
It should be noted that Flipkart has nine supply chain facilities, including fulfilment and sortation hubs in Karnataka spread across nearly 23 lakh square feet area and has created more than 26,000 direct and indirect job opportunities so far.
As per the details shared by the company, the three new facilities alone are collectively spread across nearly seven lakh sq ft of area, have a storage capacity of 15.6 lakh cubic feet and will help more than 10,500 sellers.
