Following the move by Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh (UP) Government to release the draft of its proposed population control bill, Chief Minister (CM) Vijay Rupani led Gujarat Government has begun an exercise to study the pros and cons of a similar legislation, reports Times of India.

It is said that even though no formal decision has been taken by the State Government on the subject, it is considering the views of experts and the likely response that the common citizens could have on it.

It should also be noted that if the State Government decides to implement similar legislation, it can go on to do that in the upcoming monsoon session of the State Assembly as well.

The State Government is said to be mulling to start wider consultations with different stakeholder groups if it decides to prepare a draft population control bill. It is likely to include the provisions of denying or disqualifying those with more than two children from Government jobs.
