Taking aim at the Congress leadership, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that while seeking votes by invoking former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure, Congress should also answer for all the controversies surrounding the former prime minister, reports DNA.

Speaking in an interview with Zee Media, Modi said, “Answers are awaited for the Bhopal leak case, Bofors fiasco, about the ‘big tree shaking’ quote, Shah Bano case and why Kamal Nath is chosen as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh”, in an oblique reference to the Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi, seeking clarity over Rajiv Gandi’s roles in the aforementioned controversies.

Responding over the opposition’s repeated claims of EVM malfunctioning, Modi sarcastically said, “Preparing for their imminent defeat, people are behaving like players who protest in front of umpire after getting out.”

Speaking about on the opposition demanding for proof on the Balakot strikes, the PM said, it's sad that, in spite of praising the government for such brave steps, his political rivals are seeking evidence.

“Peace is not meant for the weak. It is only the powerful and capable who succeed in establishing peace. It is a must for India to be seen as a powerful nation. Otherwise, we can't have stability and peace in this region,” the prime minister said.
