Dilip Joshi, who plays the lead-role of Jethalal in famous television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, is set to campaign for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan, reports Zee News.
Joshi will be campaigning for BJP’s candidate Lalit Oswal for Bari Sadri Assembly seat in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan. Due to his huge fan-following and popularity, the actor is expected to gather support for the BJP candidate.
The upcoming elections in Rajasthan have been a battle-ground full of entertainment. The Congress party has released parody of a popular folk song, ‘Holiya mein ude de gulal’, to take a jibe on Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. The video was titled ‘Maharani thari ahankari se’, and filled with several photographs and clips of Raje. The video also took a dig at Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by calling them ‘Jumla Waalo’.
Apart from several TV shows, Dilip Joshi has also featured in numerous films like Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun. Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma is one of the longest running shows on Indian television. It is based on playwright Taarak Mehta’s column ‘Duniya Ne Undha Chashma’ in Gujarati weekly magazine Chitralekha.
The polling for Rajasthan is set to take place on 7 December while the results will be declared on 11 December.
