A fundraiser to raise necessary legal aid for 19-year-old Richa Bharti achieved the required target in just 7 to 8 hours with over Rs 7.29 lakh donated by various individuals.
The fundraiser was started by social media users Vikas Pandey and Ritu Rathaur on behalf of a group called ‘Hindu political action committee’ or HIPAC. The group got in touch with Richa Bharti’s father and created the campaign to raise necessary funds for her to fight the legal battle.
Bharti, a resident of Jharkhand, was recently arrested, purportedly within two hours of a complaint, over an allegedly objectionable Facebook post.
The complaint was reportedly filed by the Muslim community over her post which was critical of Tik Tok users who called for revenge against Tabrez Ansari’s death.
The court of Judge Manish Singh later released her on conditional bail provided she distributes five copies of Quran, which she has since then refused.
Anticipating a protracted legal battle, a fundraiser was set up to generate necessary legal aid for Bharti. This resulted in an overwhelming response from various individuals and the required target of Rs 6 lakh was achieved in just 7 to 8 hours.
A BIG THANK YOU to all of you ððð. We reached the target of 6 lakh Rs in almost 7-8 hours flat. Will request you all to stop the contribution.
