Major Aditya is being felicitated for a operation he undertook in Budgam. He, however, was booked by the Jammu and Kashmir police earlier in January after three civilians were killed in retaliatory fire when his convoy was attacked by 100-200 stone pelters.
Aurangzeb was part of the operation to kill Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sameer Tiger in April. He has been awarded for an operation in November 2017 at Algar village in South Kashmir. Aurangzeb’s death had created shockwaves in the state after he was abducted and killed by militants as he was on his way home for Eid celebrations. Sepoy Vrahma Pal Singh has been awarded Kirti Chakra, the second highest peacetime gallantry award for the same operation.
