Union Minister of State (MoS) Darshana Jardosh has expressed that the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway line in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) will be a game-changer for the region.
She further said that about 80 per cent of the work on that project has already been rounded up whereas the rest of the work will be completed by 2023.
Jardosh explained that this particular rail link project is the most ambitious railway project in post-Independence India. Hence, the national transporter is functioning at its optimum capacity to meet all the concerned deadlines.
“The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail project is very important for us as well as for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the railways. It will be a game-changer for entire Jammu and Kashmir. We will complete the work on it soon. Our endeavour is to complete it by 2023,” Jardosh was quoted in a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI).
The minister mentioned that Kashmir is a challenging terrain due to its topography but the Railways too is completely equipped to see through these challenges regardless with the help of its dedicated workforce and the latest technology.
Jardosh also took account of the operations of the Banihal railway station, the Tunnel T-80 control room, Tunnel 144 and the Navyug road tunnel.
She carried out comprehensive interactions with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials during her visit to the union territory as a part of the government’s public outreach program.
