Hyderabad Metro commuters are being fooled with fake apps that claim to give information regarding Hyderabad Metro Rail. These apps mimic the legitimate app to trick users into downloading them.
These apps, claiming to give timings and maps, are instead filled with advertisements, which earn revenue for the makers whenever the user then downloads them. The only official app of the Hyderabad Metro is ‘T-Savaari’, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Due to lack of awareness, many users have installed fake apps that give false information.
B Abhishek, a commuter from KPHB, said, “I installed the Hyderabad Metro Rail app, which said the first train was at 6 am and I saw a flyer which said it starts at 6.30 am. I had to quickly pick an alternative mode of transport to reach my destination.”
An official team from L&T are working on an app that is regularly updated, with it showing timings of MMTS, RTC buses and other services like Ola and Metro bikes.
An official requested users to be aware because they might be cheated financially too, as T-Savaari allows passengers to buy or recharge the metro railcard.
