Getting Its Skin In The Game: IIM Calcutta Launches Advanced FinTech And Financial Blockchain Programmes

A new advanced programme in FinTech (financial technology) and
Financial Blockchain is on offer for finance professionals at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, the varsity has announced, reports The Indian Express.

The curriculum of the course will include teaching students about the impact of FinTech on the banking and financial ecosystem. Moreover, the programme will also teach them on how to utilise FinTech for designing and pushing forward new product strategies for the organisations they work at.

The institute is partnering with TalentSprint to offer the programme, set to begin in May 2019.

A hybrid executive format will used to deliver classes. It will include onsite visits to the university’s campus as well as live sessions over the internet through the TalentSprint online platform. Also, TalentSprint is going to curate and provide state of the art capstone projects for those enrolled in the programme.

“A vast majority of firms in the banking and financial sector believe that the lack of adequate FinTech talent is an existential threat to their future. We plan to equip and enable 2000 FinTech professionals in the next few years,” a programme director, Indranil Bose, stated.

Eligibility criteria are to have a a graduate/postgraduate degree in any field with at least 50 per cent marks and work experience of a minimum of two years post-graduation.
