The total number of Covid-19 cases has surged to nearly 1.09 crore globally, while the deaths have surpassed 5.21 lakh mark, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
As of Friday (3 July) evening, the total number of cases stood at 10,890,511 while the fatalities increased to 521,694, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
As many as 5,772,017 people have recovered from the disease globally, the CSSE data showed.
With 2,739,879 cases and 128,740 deaths, the US continues with the world's highest number of COVID-19 infections and fatalities, according to the CSSE.
Brazil comes in the second place with 1,496,858 infections and 61,884 deaths.
In terms of cases, Russia ranks third (666,941), and was followed by India (625,544), Peru (292,004), the UK (285,268), Chile (284,541), Spain (250,103), Italy (240,961), Mexico (238,511), Iran (232,863), Pakistan (221,896), France (203,640), Turkey (202,284), Saudi Arabia (197,608), Germany (196,723), South Africa (168,061), Bangladesh (156,391), Canada (106,643) and Colombia (102,261), the CSSE figures showed.
The other countries with over 10,000 deaths are the UK (44,080), Italy (34,818), France (29,878), Spain (28,368), Mexico (27,769), India (18,213), Iran (11,106) and Peru (10,045).
