Going ‘High’er: Justice Karnan Passes Judicial Order Against Eight Judges, To Plead In International Court Of Justice

After being sentenced to jail by the Supreme Court last year, Justice Karnan has courted controversy yet again, by passing a judicial order against eight judges, alleging them of being involved in corruption.

Former Justice Karnan, who served as a judge in the Calcutta High Court has written a letter to the Registrar General of the Supreme Court.

"I have passed a judicial order against eight convicted accused/anti-social element/terrorist judges namely, former CJI JS Khehar, CJI Dipak Misra, former Justice Chelameshwar, Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Madan B Lokur, Justice PC Ghose, Justice Kurien Jospeph and Justice R Bhanumati," he wrote in the letter.

He further added that he is accelerated steps so that the matter is raised in the International Court of Justice. He seeks relief in the matter since it has been hanging in India for a while now.

Earlier last year, he was found guilty of contempt of court after he named twenty sitting judges as corrupt and wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking a probe in the matter.

A seven-member judge bench of an apex court on 9 May 2017 sentenced him to jail for six months and directed the Bengal police to take him into custody. Almost 12 advocates went on record refusing to represent him and finally senior advocate Mathews J Nedumpara agreed to take up the case.
