Once a vaccine effective against COVID-19 is available, the Government plans to issue a digital certificate to all who receive the vaccination, reports Economic Times.
The vaccination information for each individual will be stored in the Government's DigiLocker which the Government uses for issuing and verifying documents and certificated on the cloud.
To achieve the target, the government's expert group on vaccines has proposed the establishment of a digital platform to track the procurement of vaccines and record its administration to individuals. The said expert group has been entrusted with the responsibility to look into the procurement of vaccines, Indian and foreign-made.
In case of a dual-dosage vaccine, it has been proposed that the individuals will be issued a provisional certificate which will also include the mention of the date for the second dosage on it. The final certificate to individuals would be issued after the completion of the vaccination course.
People will also be able to download their certificates on their smartphones, which will help a vaccinated person to travel anywhere with the ability to easily prove that she/he is vaccinated.
