The results for the Gujarat assembly election will be out on 18 December, but as the second phase of voting drew to a close today, the exit polls have started giving us an indication of which way the vote may swing.

Times Now-VMR and Republic TV exit polls are suggesting similar vote counts for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress in Gujarat, as reported by the Economic Times. While the former exit poll predicts that the BJP will secure 109 of the 182 seats, the latter pegs the seat number for the BJP at 108. The Congress is expected to secure 70 and 74 seats, respectively, according to the two exit polls.

According to NDTV, the BJP is likely to secure 112 seats, while the Congress is expected to score 70.

While these exit polls are converging, more or less, on the predictions for the Gujarat assembly election, Today’s Chanakya has predicted an overwhelming victory for the BJP, suggesting a win of 135 seats with the Congress securing 47.
