Here’s How Much Cabbie Sarfaraz Shaikh Made By Allegedly Killing A HDFC Banker

About five days back, HDFC bank’s vice-president, Siddharth Sanghvi, was reported missing. On Monday, 10 September, the Mumbai Police informed the media that the murder had taken place for a mere sum of Rs 30,000.

Sanghvi’s body was found to be dumped in Navi Mumbai, and the police have arrested the accused cab driver, Sarfaraz Shaikh. The murder, according to the police, took place on Wednesday, the same day when the banker went missing, News 18 reported.

The 39-year-old person resided in the Malabar Hills area. The accused confessed that he committed the crime since he was desperately in need of money to pay his EMI for the motorcycle he recently purchased.

Earlier reports had claimed that professional jealousy owing to the victim being promoted thrice in 10 years was a possible reason for the murder. He had joined the bank as senior manager in 2007, he then became assistant vice president, deputy vice president and vice president in 2011, 2015 and 2017 respectively.

The accused driver worked at a parking bay of Kamala Mills, where Sanghvi’s office was located. He cornered the banker with a knife to demand the money. When declined, he went on to stab him multiple times, which resulted in loss of blood, eventually death.

After the murder, he stuffed the body in his car, and disposed of it in Kalyan, which falls in Thane district, not too far away from Mumbai. Three days after the crime, the victim’s father received a call where the caller informed him that his son was safe, and there was no need to panic.

The accused has been booked for robbery and murder, under IPC Sections 397 and 302, respectively. The court has asked the accused to remain in police custody until 19 September.
