Southern state of Tamil Nadu has been put under high-alert after warning of Lashkar terrorists entering the state, reports Indian Express.
The message circulated to the all city police commissioners and SPs around 11.30 pm on Thursday (22 August) said that a group of five Sri Lankan Tamil and one Pakistani Muslim, have reportedly disguised themselves as Hindus to carry out attacks across the state, especially, Coimbatore.
Based on the intelligence inputs, Tamil Nadu Police launched a massive combing operation across the state in search of the group. Intelligence machinery has been activated and the policemen have been asked to monitor the movement of ferries and boats while the unit officers were asked to sensitise the fishermen community about the threat.
The intelligence report said that vital security installations and worship centres, tourist locations and foreign embassies could be among the targets of the terrorist group.
A few months ago, failure to act on the inputs provided by Indian intelligence proved costly for the island nation of Sri Lanka as Easter Bomb Attacks claimed several lives.
