Former union foreign minister and veteran Congress leader Natwar Singh today (10 March) commented that the exit of Jyotiraditya Scindia comes as no surprise to him. Singh said that Scindia will now join the BJP and become a cabinet minister.

“His father Madhavrao Scindia would have been Prime Minister if he had lived”, Singh was also quoted as saying by ANI.

Madhavrao Scindia a senior Congress leader and former union minister had died on 30 September 2001 in a plane crash on the outskirts of Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh along with seven others on board.

Jyotiraditya Scindia later took over his political legacy and served as an union minister during the UPA era. He today resigned from the Congress party and is widely expected to join the BJP. Nineteen other Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs too have tendered their resignations, thereby pushing the Kamal Nath government into a minority.
