Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has called on Joseph Biden to undo the damage caused by President Trump's administration to the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and several other nations, reports Indian Express.
Rouhani urged, "Now, an opportunity has come up for the next US administration to compensate for past mistakes and return to the path of complying with international agreements through respect of international norms."
Rouhani also said, "The people of Iran, though their heroic resistance against the imposed economic war, proved that the US maximum pressure policy was doomed to fail."
This comes, as President Trump's administration had junked the deal which had been signed under the watch of his predecessor Barack Obama and slapped several harsh economic and trade sanctions over the Iranian Republic, pushing the ties between Iran and the US to a state of nadir.
As a result of the Trump administration's unilateral withdrawal from the deal in 2018, Iran has also gradually abandoned the deal under which it had agreed to limit its enrichment of uranium in exchange for the lifting of earlier sanctions.
Rouhani also added that Iran considered constructive engagement with the world as a strategy.
