Tamil Nadu (TN)’s Crime Investigation Department police (CB-CID) officials are investigating how Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s programme schedule in Chennai on 12 April was leaked to those who planned to wave black flags at him. Tamil daily Dinamalar reported that the CB-CID has filed a case against the leak of the schedule and has questioned several state cadre policemen over the issue. The case has been filed based on a complaint lodged by a sub-inspector with the Kanchipuram CB-CID branch.

PM Modi had visited Chennai on 12 April to inaugurate the Defence Expo at Thiruvidanthai near Mahabalipuram. He then took part in a function at the Adayar Cancer Hospital.

The Prime Minister’s schedule is prepared by his security team and the Intelligence Bureau officials. The schedule is then sent to officials of Tamil Nadu Government and police. The schedule is kept confidential among policemen.

But the protestors got minute details of the PM’s arrival till his return to New Delhi. These details were allegedly sent by a state police personnel on Whatsapp to some of the protestors who then planned to wave black flags at the PM. As the schedule was leaked, the protestors followed the Prime Minister to most of the programmes in which he took part and staged protests.

The CB-CID police are gathering all available details on this security slip-up.
