According to senior officials in the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), the metro link from Hyderabad to Hi-Tec City from Ameerpet interchange station (10 km) is set to be operational from 15 February.
Due to the ‘Sankranti’ break and reduced traffic movement, metro rail engineers were able to take up more road space for barricading in order to complete the work.
The work has been proceeding at a rate which is satisfactory, but not upto the mark considering traffic constraints. “Traffic police have been cautious in allowing more barricades on the road considering the furore it caused earlier, even though we have assured them that it could be done with better planning, causing minimum inconvenience to motorists,” Metro Rail News reported, quoting senior Metro Rail officers.
Meanwhile, the HMR is speeding up street-level work on the ground, while L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad (L&TMRH) is busy doing up the entry and exits at seven stations en route.
