‘If Muslims Want They Can Close Down 500 Cities In India’: Delhi Student Leader Asks Crowd To Show Demographic Power

A video shared across social media, allegedly showing a leader of the anti-CAB protesters addressing the assembled crowd of students, hints at the pre-planned violent nature of the protests.

The speaker can be heard exhorting the crowd come out on roads and cause a chakka-jam.

Keeping in view the nature of such chakka-jam protests to take the whole society to ransom and causing immeasurable inconvenience to public, damage to public properties, as well as law and order problems, the Supreme Court had banned such bandhs as early as in 1998.

The speaker in the video says:

“What we wish for is that the city of Delhi should have a chakka-jam (city coming to a halt). Not only in Delhi, but in whatever cities a Muslim can, there should be a chakka-jam.

“Muslims can bring about a chakka-jam in 500 cities in India. ”

“Who is the roadblock in the way of Chakkajam? Roadblock isn’t BJP, roadblock isn’t Congress. Roadblock is Jamiat-Ulema-i-Hind,. Roadblock is Jamaat-i-Islami.”

“Don’t Muslims have even that much haisiyat to close down north India?”

Interestingly, the speaker makes comments regarding demography in showing the power of the Muslim community.

The speaker explains to the assembled crowd that the population of the Muslims is higher in urban areas than rural areas, giving the example of Uttar Pradesh where it is 30 per cent, and says that, therefore, Muslims should be able to close down a city.

“India’s Muslim is urban. He should be able to close down a city. Have some shame. How come a city has not been closed down despite 30 per cent population?”

The speaker further instructs the assembled youth to close down the cities.

“Close down the cities and whoever comes to move you to some other area, counter him. Make him run away.”

During the violent Jamia protests, in which public buses and two police vehicles were torched, there were also some indicators of pre-planned violence from the side of the protesters, like bringing wet blankets to cover tear gas shells.

Kumar Gyanesh, Additional DCP (South East Delhi) was quoted as saying by Business Standard, "I saw it myself, some protesters were carrying wet blankets and putting them on tear gas shells to minimise their impact. It did not seem to be spontaneous but well planned."

"Petrol bombs were also hurled at us by the protesters. These things do not happen on the spot, it shows that it was a conspiracy. The kind of stone-pelting and reaction appears to us as if it was pre-planned," Gyanesh said.
