IIT Bombay Cements Itself Among Elite MBA Colleges: Average Package Crosses Rs 20 Lakh, Highest At Rs 32.4 Lakh

In a successful placement season for MBA students of IIT Bombay’s Shailesh J Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM), the average cost to company (CTC) for placed students has crossed the Rs 20 lakh mark, up from the average CTC of Rs 19.06 lakh last year (2018), reports The Indian Express.

The highest package for the 2019 batch was Rs 32.4 lakh, same as the previous year at Rs 32.4 lakh. 100 per cent placement was achieved for the MBA batch of 109 students, with 112 offers being made overall.

Thirty-Eight companies offered to hire students this time around, including new recruiters like OYO, HSBC and Tata Global Beverages.

Head of SJMSOM, Professor S Bhargava, stated, “We have again succeeded in providing the industry with talented students in a plethora of roles and functions, and strengthening of long lasting relationships with our legacy recruiters, along with an influx of new recruiters, which resulted in excellent packages for students”.

“We have rapidly advanced in our pursuit of excellence with the same being reflected in the stupendous growth of average packages. These numbers are a testament to the robust pedagogy followed by SJMSOM”, he added.

The top 20 per cent students of the previous batch had received offers to the tune of Rs 25.24 lakh per annum on average, while the top 50 per cent were offered packages of around 22.59 lakh.
