As part of their closing argument ahead of Tuesday’s election, the Donald Trump campaign released a two-minute long television ad across various television networks in the USA.
The video ad— called “Donald Trump’s Argument for America” — has already garnered close to seven million views in Youtube. The central message of the video ad was consistent with many of themes that Trump has been espousing in his otherwise tumultuous campaign. In the video, Trump criticises what he describes as the Washington establishment's ties with "global special interests," and the people "that don’t have your [Americans’] good in mind.”
In the video, Trump ratchets up his rhetoric and says that "the political establishment that is trying to stop us is the same group responsible for our disastrous trade deals, massive illegal immigration, and economic and foreign policies that have bled our country dry. It’s a global power structure that is responsible for the economic decisions that have robbed our working class, stripped our country of its wealth, and put that money into the pockets of a handful of large corporations and political entities."
“This is Mr. Trump’s positive closing message to American voters, and it comes at a time when Secretary Clinton has abandoned any positive message of her own,” said Jason Miller, the Trump campaign spokesman.
However, the ad invited criticism from many quarters for what was described as its "anti-semitic overtones".
