Lawyers of the Aligarh Bar Association have decided to refuse their services in the legal defence of the accused persons in the murder case of two-year-old Twinkle Sharma, reports ANI.
“We stand with the family of 2.5-year-old girl who was murdered in Tappal & no advocate will appear in Court for the accused. Advocate from outside will not be allowed to fight the case. We will fight for the child,” said General Secretary of the Aligarh Bar Association Anoop Kaushik.
The mutilated body of Twinkle Sharma was found in a dumping ground on 2 June in Tappal, Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh over what is believed to be a dispute between the two accused, Zahid and Aslam, and her grandfather, over a sum of Rs 10,000 which the former owed the latter.
Authorities were criticised for dragging their feet in the case, as the local police only registered an FIR some 30 hours after the girl had gone missing.
