Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) citing security reasons and poor footfall has limited the access to various metro stations after 10 pm.

Only one gate at metro stations such as the ones at Cubbon Park, Vidhana Soudha, KR Market, National College will allow the entry of passengers post the deadline. The BMRLC maintains that this move has not impacted any passengers.

But, the Hindu quoted a passenger as saying, “I started noticing that entry to the station from HAL office side is closed after 10 pm. One has to go till the Cubbon Park entry point to get to the station. BMRCL has done this without informing passengers. They should at least put up a notice.”

Managing Director of BMRCL Ajay Seth that the decision applies to the metro stations that observe fewer commuters in the night, hence only one gate will be kept open after 10 pm.

Commuters complain that there are several people who travel after 10 pm in the night. Hence, the BMRCL should keep the necessary number of staff and keep the gates open.

However, BMRCL defends itself by mentioning that this action is taken only an hour before the closure of the lines.
