India’s defence exports ambitions has received a huge boost as the country is edging closer to sign a deal to supply the BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to Philippines, reports ANI.

Since the last few months, both the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) along with BrahMos Aerospace have been working towards securing export agreements of the the supersonic cruise missile to foreign countries that are friendly towards India.

It should be noted that the BrahMos Aerospace is a Indo-Russian joint venture between India's DRDO and Russia's NPO Mashinostroyenia.

“India and Philippines are in an advanced stage of negotiations over the sale of BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. Export order likely to be placed soon,” a government source was quoted in the ANI report as saying.

According to the report, the BrahMos missile is also getting more capable as work is going on increasing its range as well as adding other modern technologies into the missile.

Meanwhile, DRDO has already secured orders from the Armenian government to supply indigenously made weapon-locating radars as the organisation continues to work in synergy with the government to step up India’s defence exports.
