India and Nepal's ties are set to experience a big blow as Nepal's main opposition party Nepali Congress has endorsed Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli's constitutional amendment to update the Nepalese map to include Indian territories of Lipulekh, Kalapani and Limpiyaghura, reports Times of India.

With endorsement from the Nepali Congress, PM Oli's constitutional amendment is expected to garner the two-thirds support in Nepali Parliament which is a must for the updation of the map to be materialised. The date for the passing of the amendment is not yet finalised, but it is expected to happen soon.

It should be noted that the other main opposition parties, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Samajbadi Janata Party Nepal and Rastriya Janata Party Nepal have already lent their support to the controversial updation of the Nepalese map which is set to boil up Nepal's bilateral ties with India.

Meanwhile, Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)'s spokesperson Anurag Srivastava in a rare statement on Thursday (28 May) had emphasised on creating "environment of trust and confidence."
