Following the final farewell, the attendees chanted slogans like, "Bharat Mata Ki Jai, Tibet Desh Ki Jai, Vikas Regiment Zindabad, We Salute Indian Army".
Tenzin was a company leader in India's secretive and elite Vikas Regiment of the Special Frontier Force (SFF), who lost his life during a preemptive operation to foil Chinese People Liberation Army's (PLA) attempts to transgress across the LAC.
Following Tenzin's martyrdom, in a direct message to China his coffin was draped in Tibet's snow lion flag along with the Indian Tricolour. The snow lion flag remains an icon of the Tibetian resistance against China's occupation of its territory.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
Special Frontier Force (SFF) that is also known as ‘Establishment 22’ is in the limelight after the operations carried out on the night of 29 August on the south bank of Pangong Tso in Eastern Ladakh.
The commandos in this unit are mainly drawn from Tibetan refugees who took shelter in India following the Tibetian uprising.
