The commencement of the six-match limited-overs series between India and Sri Lanka has been postponed to 17th July from 13th July due to certain Covid scares in the Lankan camp.

Sri Lankan batting coach Grant Flower and data analyst GT Niroshan, and another individual tested positive for Covid-19.

Henceforth, the second and the third ODIs will now occur on 19th and 21st July, respectively, whereas the T20I series begins from 23rd July.

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) sent over the modified schedule to the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) and the broadcasters.

The SLC also intends to undertake specific preventive measures to increase the mandatory quarantine time of its players.

Meanwhile, the Indian board is also keeping all the alternatives ready for the tour, depending on the eventual number of Covid-19 positive cases in the Lankan contingent.

One of The Times of India (TOI) reports mentions that the Sri Lankan government could take command of this scenario to address any concerns of the BCCI.

The Indian team led by Shikhar Dhawan, along with the support staff and other members, have already quarantined themselves and are taking the required precautions.
