In a major diplomatic victory for India, the so-called president of the administration in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, Masood Khan, was today (3 October) disallowed from appearing at an event organised by the Pakistani embassy in the lower house of the French Parliament, reports ANI.

French authorities barred Khan from coming to the event after the Indian mission in Paris communicated a demarche calling upon the French foreign ministry to prevent him from participating in the event, explaining that Jammu & Kashmir was an integral state of India Khan’s appearance at the French Parliament will be interpreted as an action in violation of Indian sovereignty.

Apart from the Indian mission, members of the Indian diaspora also petitioned the French government to prevent the event from taking place.

Pakistan has been continuously attempting to internationalist the Kashmir issue in the recent period after India revoked the special status granted under article 370. Many countries, including France, were sites of belligerent anti-India protests organised by Pakistan and exiled Khalistani and Kashmiri separatists.
