A package of Indian Air Force (IAF) jets on Friday (10 May) forced an Antonov AN-12 Heavy Cargo Plane to land at Jaipur airport after it entered Indian airspace from Pakistan, ANI has reported.

The plane was reportedly intercepted by two IAF Sukhoi Su-30 MKI jets and is said to be owned by an Ukrainian engine manufacturing company. Subsequently, the questioning of the pilots began after the landing, which occurred at about 4.30 PM.

As per defence journalists, the plane took off from Georgia for its destination New Delhi while flying over Karachi. It is said to have deviated from its original path and entered the Indian airspace from an unauthorised point somewhere around North of Gujarat.

It is speculated that the plane mistakenly violated Indian airspace and a probe to this tune is on.
