Indian Airports, Seaports Put On Alert To Prevent Entry Of 25 ISIS-Linked Indians From Afghanistan

Indian airports and seaports have been put on a high alert to be watchful for and prevent the entry of 25 ISIS-linked Indians in Afghanistan.

Apparently, these individuals were recognised by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) during their probes into multiple IS-inspired modules that are active in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Delhi and Karnataka.

These people had migrated to Afghanistan and joined the ISIS in the Nangarhar province of the country.

Hence, strict vigilance has been ensured in all 43 airports, seaports, international rail check and land posts with a warning that these 25 individuals might try to enter India through a third country.

Upon a request from the NIA, a red corner notice (RCN) already exists against these concerned suspects.

However, a report from the Economic Times quotes a senior official who mentioned that some amongst these 25 individuals are already dead.

Meanwhile, the NIA officials have recognised certain suspects who are possibly operating from the Afghanistan-Pakistan border and are still active on social media.

Some women from India had even travelled to Afghanistan to join the ISIS but surrendered themselves in front of the erstwhile government led by former Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani.

However, according to the information gathered by the Union Home Ministry, these women have been freed following the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul.
