Indian Army May Transform Its Fighting Formations Into Dual Tasked Versions To Combat LAC And LOC Threats

The Indian Army is considering transforming its fighting formations into duel-tasked versions so that it can combat against both China and Pakistan, ANI reports.

Until now, the fighting formations are said to have majorly focused across the Line of Control (LoC) given that the Line of Actual Control (LAC) was quite inactive.

“There will be no need to raise any additional forces or a new strike corps in view of the ongoing conflict. The existing fighting formations can be given dual-tasking to look after both fronts,” the agency quoted sources from the central government.

In fact, three offensive Strike Corps are stationed across the western frontier but only a solitary attacking Mountain Strike Corps has been formulated for the northern border.

Reportedly, these measures are being taken to strengthen the preparation at the LAC. The Army headquarters is closely examining different proposals for the purpose whereas the commanders from the forces have been asked to put forth their suggestions too. Sources have said that the deliberations will be held to finalise the method through which the formations would be made dual.

The readjustment of the fighting formations of the 1.3 million-strong force could be a long-drawn exercise. However, it is slated to hone the defense for a two-front war. The Indian Army has already roped in equipment and armours from central and western India in the ongoing conflict with China. The above stated procedure could be an extended and elaborate practice of the same.
