Indian Army Successfully Test Fires DRDO’s Nuclear-Capable Prithvi-II Missile With A 350 KM Target Range 

The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) of the Indian Army successfully test fired a nuclear capable Prithvi-II missile off the Odisha coast on Thursday night (27 June), Press Trust of India has reported.

The missile test carried out off the Launch Complex-III of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur was monitored by DRDO scientists.

The surface to surface missile boasts of a 350 km range and is capable of carrying nuclear payloads and 500 to 1000 kg warheads. Powered by liquid propulsion twin engines, the missile uses advanced inertial guidance system with a manoeuvring trajectory to hit its target.

Described as a routine test by the army, the missile was randomly selected from the production stock. During the test, its entire trajectory was tracked via radars and electro-optical systems.
