The Indian Army on Friday (22 November) successfully defused a major Improvised Explosive Device (IED) bomb on the National Highway-11 situated in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Asian News International (ANI).

As the troops detected the bomb during a clearance, the forces immediately cordoned off the area, following which the Indian Army's bomb disposal squads rushed into the spot and proactively preventing the bomb blast.

Upon the development, Union Minister of State (MoS) in Prime Minister's Office, Jitendra Singh who also hails from the UT of J&K heaped praises on the Indian Army and said, "The way it was detected on time and was defused, the Army deserves congratulations for that."

MoS Singh also added, "Certainly, from the past few days, the way decisive action is being taken from the Army and security forces is appreciable." He also expressed confidence that this marked the end of terrorism in J&K.
