Indian Hackers Take Down Over 500 Pakistani Websites In Response To Cyber Attacks Against Universities

Indian cyber warriors took down over 500 Pakistani websites, mostly government-run, on Tuesday, in response to cyber attacks targeting websites of Indian universities, Aaj Tak has reported. Websites of Indian universities, including Aligarh Muslim University and Delhi University, were hacked and defaced late on Tuesday by Pakistani hackers.

“This hack is in response to Code-Man's hack of railways.gov.pk and in the solidarity of innocent Kashmiri people being killed by the Indian Army - PHC (sic),” message on one of the hacked Indian websites read.

The cyber attack emanating from Pakistan came in response to an attack launched by Indian hackers to protest against the death sentence handed out to former Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav. A group of cyber warriors from India took down 30 Pakistan government websites, including that of the country’s railway department, leaving a message on each one of them.

"Charges against Kulbhushan Jadhav are fictitious, fake and farcical. There is no evidence of wrong doing by him. This is an act of ‘premeditated murder'. Earlier, it was Sarabjeet, now it's Jadhav,” message on one of the hacked websites read.

Cyber warriors from India and Pakistan came face to face across cyber space soon after hackers from Pakistan attacked and defaced Indian websites following a terrorist attack on a military camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector.

Indian hackers had responded by taking down several Pakistan government-run websites. Pakistan had reportedly offered to pay the Indian hackers with Bitcoins to get their systems unlocked.
