Indian Intelligence, Security Agencies On High Alert After Meeting Between Pakistan's ISI And Jaish-e-Mohammad

The Indian intelligence establishment and top security apparatus are in a state of high alert after receiving information about a meeting held between terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM)'s de-facto chief Maulana Abdul Rauf Asghar, who is the brother of Maulana Masood Azhar, and two top-ranking officials of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) on 20 August, reports Times of India.

The meeting was held in Rawalpindi, with Asghar's brother Maulana Ammar also marking his attendance. Post Balakot airstrikes, Ammar had released an audio strictly criticising Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan for letting go of Indian Air Force (IAF)'s Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who had shot down an F-16 aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force with his Mig-21 Bison aircraft.

Ammar had then vowed revenge against IAF's airstrikes which had targeted Jaish's Taaleem-Ul-Quran Madrassa.

The development gains significance as it is believed that it was preceded by a congregation at JeM Markaz in Islamabad, where JeM's operational commander Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri and Qari Zarrar met and discussed the key intricacies of their machinations to intensify the attacks on Indian soil and people.

This meeting has set the intelligence establishment on a high alert given a meeting of the same set of people had taken place about a month before the Pulwama suicide bombing attack was carried out on 14 February last year.
