The Indian Oil Corporation Limited has launched the cleaner and greener ‘XtraGreen’ diesel, which according to the petroleum refiner is more fuel-efficient and environmental friendly than regular diesel.
The XtraGreen diesel will be available at 126 fuel stations across 63 different cities in the country.
The XtraGreen diesel uses a modified Diesel Multi-Functional Additive (DMFA) that offers several benefits as compared to regular diesel.
It improves fuel economy by about 5-6 per cent and cuts down carbon dioxide emissions by 130 grams of CO2 for per liter of diesel.
Similarly, it also reduces emissions of carbon monoxide and NOx by 5.29 per cent and 4.99 per cent respectively.
“XtraGreen is in sync with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s commitment to steer India towards a greener tomorrow, constant reduction of carbon emission and gradual achievement of the net-zero goal by 2070,” Indian Oil Chairman SM Vaidya was quoted in a report by the Financial Express.
The XtraGreen diesel has enhanced the cetane number by five points, which has culminated in brilliant protection against corrosion, reduced engine noise and also improved lubricity for the vehicles.
