Indian Railways Makes History, Achieves 100 Per Cent Punctuality Rate Of Trains For The First Time On 1 July

Indian Railways has said that it achieved 100 per cent punctuality rate of the trains for the first time in history on 1 July. It means that departures and arrivals of the all the passenger trains were on time and none of them faced delays.

"First time in the history, Indian Railways has achieved 100 per cent Punctuality of trains on 01.07.2020," the Ministry of Railways said in a tweet on Thursday (2 July).

The previous best punctuality rate of 99.54 per cent was recorded on 23 June this year when one train got delayed, according to the Railways Ministry.

Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal in a tweet on Thursday said, "Trains in the Fast Lane: Enhancing services to unprecedented levels, Indian Railways made history on 1st July, 2020 by achieving 100% punctuality rate".

However, it should be noted that only a fraction of the total trains are currently running.

According to an Indian Express report, all special trains -12 pairs running on the Rajdhani routes since 12 May and 100 pairs operating since 1 June - are continuing even as the Railways has cancelled all regular trains till 12 August.
