India’s Largest Startup Ecosystem Inaugurated In Kerala; To Generate 2.5 Lakh IT Jobs

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated India's largest startup ecosystem on Sunday (13 January) by opening a 1.8-lakh-square-feet facility having incubation set-ups across a string of segments in modern technology, reports Financial Express.

The Integrated Startup Complex under the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) reportedly includes the state-of-the-art facilities of Maker Village that promote hardware startups.

It also includes the BioNest that supports medical technology, BRINC, which is the country’s first international accelerator for hardware startups, BRIC aids developing solutions for cancer diagnosis and care, and a Centre of Excellence set up by industry majors such as UNITY.

The government plans to have an area of 2.3 crore sq ft of Information Technology space in Kerala. The new complex at the Technology Innovation Zone (TIZ) is a significant step towards achieving the objective, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was said in a speech at KINFRA Hi-Tech Park, Kalamassery.

“We are planning to give direct jobs to 2.5 lakh in IT,” Vijayan was quoted in the report as saying, adding that the government was working to ensure social development through technology.

After the completion of three more projects, Kerala will have startup and incubation space of 5 lakh sq ft, which will be the largest of the kind in the world.
