India’s Single-Day COVID-19 Testing Scales To A Record High Of Over 10.6 Lakh Samples; Total Crosses 4 Crore

In a positive development, the nation on Saturday (29 August) recorded the highest tally of daily COVID-19 testing performed so far, with the total samples tested in the day touching 10.6 lakh, reports Times of India.

With the daily testing figures continually rising over time, the total number of tests performed per million population has also risen to 30,044, helping in timely identification and isolation of those who have contracted the virus.

While the testing has increased, the positivity rate at the national level has been contained at 8.6 per cent. States with a positivity rate below the national average include Tamil Nadu at 8.1 per cent, Uttarakhand at 6.2 per cent, Bihar at 5.4 per cent, Gujarat at 5 per cent, Madhya Pradesh at 4.7 per cent, Punjab at 4.7 per cent, Uttar Pradesh at 4.6 per cent and Rajasthan at 4.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, with more than 10.6 lakh tests being performed, the total tests conducted till Saturday surpassed 4.1 crore, while the total tally of those testing positive so far have surpassed 35 lakh across India.
