The special leave petition was earlier filed by Chidambaram’s lawyer before the SC to seek interim relief from arrest after Delhi High Court’s decision to cancel the senior Congress leader’s anticipatory bail plea.
It was earlier reported that a lookout notice has been issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Chidambaram to restrict his movement across land, air and seaports. He has been reported missing ever since the Delhi HC order.
Chidambaram and his son Karti have been accused of receiving illegal benefits from the INX Media owners Peter and Indrani Mukherjea to obtain Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance for INX Media. Chidambaram was the then finance minister of India.
