All 460 students of the thirty-third batch of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM-L) found jobs within three days in the recently concluded campus recruitment drive at the institute, reports Hindustan Times (HT).

“A lot of companies were looking for students having previous work experience. We exactly can’t comment why there is a shift. But it was certainly there. This year, participation from consulting and finance firms was also significant,” said Prof Uppal of the institute to HT.

The Consulting (32 per cent) segment accounted for the largest number of job offers, followed by other sectors like general management (14 per cent), finance (16 per cent), sales and marketing (16 per cent), e-commerce (15 per cent) and systems/IT (10 per cent).

Uppal added that with reputed brands like Alvarez and Marsal, Bain and Co, Hindustan Unilever, JP Morgan Chase, MasterCard Advisors, McKinsey and Company, and The Boston Consulting Group, participating in the recruitment drive, IIM-L has now become a “preferred recruitment destination for consulting, finance and marketing roles in the country.”

Similar Response At IIT Bombay

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) has also cemented its position among India’s elite MBA colleges with the successful conclusion of the latest placement season.

While 100 per cent placement was achieved for the MBA batch of 109 students, the average cost to company (CTC) for placed students has crossed the Rs 20 lakh mark, up from the average CTC of Rs 19.06 lakh last year (2018).
