Hindu leader and former ABVP leader Sadhvi Pragya who joined the BJP earlier today (17 April) would contest the ongoing Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal on the party’s ticket, ANI has reported.

The Sadhvi had earlier met with senior BJP leaders including former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan before announcing her entry into the party.

Sadhvi Pragya was projected as the biggest face of the ‘Hindu Terror’ narrative peddled during the UPA years based on the Malegaon and Samjhauta blasts. The Sadhvi spent almost eight years in jail after being named as an accused in the Malegaon blast before finally getting bail in 2017.

The legal team of Sadhvi has maintained that she should have been granted bail in just half an hour. It has also been alleged that she was brutally tortured in custody.

She would face-off against senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh for a fight to win Bhopal. Digvijaya Singh has long been accused of furthering the Hindu Terror narrative on various forums.

Various questions have been raised over the whole ‘Hindu Terror’ bogey with individuals from various quarters calling it a fake manufactured narrative.

The theory also received a major blow when four accused including Swami Aseemanand were acquitted in the Samjhauta blast case by a CBI court.
