Larsen & Toubro announced that its Water & Effluent Treatment business unit has won multiple EPC ( engineering, procurement and conduction) orders for the execution of rural piped water supply schemes in various districts of Madhya Pradesh.
The projects are part of Jal Jeevan Mission and cover the districts of Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Agar Malwa & Singrauli. The project will cater to the drinking water requirement of 3103 villages covering a population of 48 Lakhs. The projects are part of the Government’s ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission to provide piped water supply to every rural household by 2024.
The State Public Health Engineering Department is constructing water infrastructure so that rural families of Madhya Pradesh can be provided with clean drinking water through tap connection. A target has been set to complete the scheme in the rural areas of the entire state by year 2023 under the Jal Jivan Mission.
Classifying it as a ‘large’ project, Larsen & Toubro indicated that the project value will be in the range of worth in the range of Rs 2,500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore.
The scope includes design & construction of intake structures, water treatment plants of aggregate capacity 377 MLD, transmission & distribution pipelines of length 17,513 Kms, 23 master balancing reservoirs of aggregate capacity 17.5 ML, 1313 overhead service reservoirs of aggregate capacity 193 ML, 46 nos. of sump & pumphouse of aggregate capacity 46 ML, 6.5 Lakh house service connections and associated electromechanical & instrumentation works including 10 years of Operation & Maintenance. The project also involves automation and measurement of water quantity & quality through SCADA system.
L&T also said that it has secured secured an order to execute Integrated Infrastructure Development Works at Gwalior. The project envisages for the development of 800 acres of Maharajbada region in Gwalior with 16 Km of Smart Roads, 5 acres of Urban Parks, 31 Km of Storm Water Drains, Multilevel Underground Car Parking & Underground Power Distribution System.
