As a consequence of heavy and unprovoked shelling by Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC), a 24-year-old woman succumbed to death on Tuesday (15 October), reports Financial Express.
The victim, Shameena Akhtar belonged to Noona-Bandi in the Shahpur sector of Poonch district. Death of Akhtar has raised the count of fatalities in Pakistani shelling to three over the past four days. Prior to this, two Indian Army soldiers had been killed in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district and Uri sector of Baramulla district on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
The unabated shelling from across the border had resulted in intense panic in the areas along the LoC, forcing most of the people to stay indoors. As per officials, several houses have also suffered damages in the cross-border shelling.
Apart from Akhtar's death, as per officials, four buffaloes also perished in the ceasefire violation which started on Tuesday morning at about 9.30 am in the Qasba and Kirni sectors of Poonch.
