In a positive development, a most wanted terrorist and chief of terror outfit Al-Badre was gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday (9 March), reports India TV.
"Sopore police killed Al-Badre Chief Ganie Khwaja in an encounter just now. A big success", said Kashmir Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Vijay Kumar.
According to the report, a cordon and search operation at Sherpora in Tujjar area of Baramulla district was started by the security forces following information about presence of militants there.
A police official said “As the joint searching team cordoned the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon the party which was retaliated and a encounter started.”
As per the police, incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered and a search operation is on. The police have termed the elimination of the wanted terror outfit chief as a major success for the security forces in the valley.
