Jammu and Kashmir police personnel have decided to donate a day’s salary for the families of the cops, who were killed in the line of duty, mostly in stone-pelting related violence and attacks by Pakistan-backed terrorists, this year.

According to the Press Trust of India, 14 policemen and two special police officers have sacrificed their lives in various militancy-related incidents during the year. Six of these policemen were killed and their faces disfigured after terrorists fired bullets at them in an attack in Anantnag district last week. Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba had claimed responsibility for the attack.

“To show solidarity and their concern for the bereaved families of these martyrs, J&K police personnel will donate one day’s salary of the current month,” statement released by the official spokesperson of the J&K police said.
