J&K: Amid Stone Pelting, Police Rescue Medical Team Held Hostage While Conducting COVID-19 Screening

The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police has successfully rescued a medical team which had been kept hostage inside a house by a family in Sheikhpora in Watoora village of the Kashmir Valley's Budgam district, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Police say, "A person was to be taken for screening but his family refused&kept the medical team hostage inside their house. Police party rushed to the village to rescue them but they were attacked with stones. But medical team was rescued safely by the police." #JammuAndKashmir https://t.co/lP1WajFEmc

As per reports, a team of medical workers had approached a house to screen a person. However, the family members refused to allow the screening and instead held them as hostages. Thereafter, the police rushed to the scene to carry out the rescue operation. The developments took place on Saturday (11 April).
After the police reached the scene, it was met with stone-pelting by the villagers. Despite the attack, the police managed to safely rescue the medical team. However, in the course of the same, three policemen involved in the rescue operation were injured.
The family members has now been booked by the police administration under Sections 188, 269 and 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
