At least 19 civilians were injured following a grenade attack at a bus stand in Sopore in Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) on Monday (28 October) afternoon, reports The Hindu.

The injured in the attack include four women, one of whom has been reported to be in critical condition. After the attack, the police officials immediately cordoned off the busy area around the bus stop.

The grenade splinters hit the civilians in the upper and lower limbs. Six of those injured were shifted to a hospital in Srinagar as they were in a critical condition.

According to the report, no terror outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. This is reportedly second grenade attack in the past three days. Earlier on Saturday (26 October), six Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans had been injured in a grenade attack.

It should also be noted that the latest attack has come just a day ahead of the planned visit of a delegation of European parliamentarians to the erstwhile state of J&K, which is set to be the first high-profile visit to the region by any international delegation since the dilution of the contentious Article 370 of the Indian Constitution by the Parliament on 5-6 August.
